Mission

The Logistic Journal is an international e-journal for technical logistics (intra-logistics) where all articles are published just online. Nevertheless, this does not explicitely exclude a publication in print media (media partners) lateron. Articles can be published under two categories:

Publications without peer review (unreviewed publications)

In this category articles are published which were submitted or recommended in writing by a peer as well as articles which have already passed a peer review at a university. These are, for example, studies, diploma and doctoral theses.

Unreviewed publications which meet these requirements can be transferred to Reviewed Publications after a successful peer review.
Publications which have been submitted for peer review and meet the requirements are at first published under Unreviewed Publications.

Publications with peer review (reviewed publications)

In this section of the Logistics Journal only those articles are published which have been reviewed and released by peers (see Peer Review).
Principally, only those articles are published (reviewed and unreviewed) which meet the requirements of best practice (see Rules of Best Practice) and which deal with technical logistics or intra-logistics (see definition of intra-logistics at the end of this text).

Peer Review

Prior to their publication in the Logistics Journal under Reviewed Publications the scientific articles are reviewed by peer with regard to their form and contents. No article will be published under Reviewed Publications without this peer review which ensures that the scientific standards are met.

The articles are reviewed twice and blindly: At first, the printable electronic version is checked by the editorial staff, represented by its chairman (see Editor) with regard to its form especially the correct classification (see Subject Group of the Logistics Journal) as well as its completeness and machine readability.

The classification is proposed by the author and checked by the editorial staff in agreement with the editor. The two peers are chosen from the specific subject group in cyclical, alphabetical order. If the publication can be allocated to two categories it may be reviewed by one peer from each subject group. Furthermore, reviewing peers should not work at the same institute or company or in the same location. Publications will be reviewed anonymously so that the peers do not know the author and vice versa.

  • publication without reservation
  • publication with reservation
  • revision required
  • will not be published under Reviewed Publications
  • will not be published in the Logistics Journal

Based on these recommendations the editorial board, represented by its chairman, decides on the publication of an article. The author will be informed about its decision and motivations. When an article is accepted for publication with reservation the revised version will be reviewed by at least one other peer prior to publication.
Articles are published in the Logistics Journal according to the requirements of the Digital Peer Publishing Licence (DPPL, version 2). The text of the licence is available under http://www.dipp.nrw.de and can be published without restrictions in other electronic media. A publication in the Logistics Journal is free of charge as far as no translations or technical revisions are required and ordered separately by the author from the editorial staff of the Logistics Journal. The author shall supply a significant abstract of his article in German and English. The Logistics Journal will have unlimited access to these abstracts in elecontric and written form for further use and circulation. Otherwise, the DPPL applies (see above).
Articles published under Reviewed Publications principally shall be in English and German and have the same content. (see Formats for Logistics Journal).

The editorial board

The Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Technische Logistik (WGTL) and its professional associations constitute the editorial board and appoint the experts for the peer review (see Experts & Peers). WGTL is also responsible for allocating the peers to the respective area of expertise (see below) while the Logistics Journal is responsible for all editorial and organisational tasks. It is also responsible for the complete technical realisation and the long-term archiving of the documents in electronical form.

Editor

The Logistics Journal is published by the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Technische Logistik. The editorial board acts as co-editor and is responsible for the content. Its memebers are:
